News

  • What kinds of news stories, topics, or issues are not being covered well by mainstream papers? How does the internet or alternative news sources help address this problem? Give an example.

there's alot of things that aren't being covered by the media honestly
-racism
-any other political view than the left
-men's issues
-mental health issues

for racism i feel like the world is looking at the topic only from one perspective, the racism faced by african americans. in no way am i invalidating their experiences or trying to say that black issues are not important. i just feel like we are disregarding the racism that asian people face. "ur just saying that bc ur asian" thats....the point....// it feels like no one talks about the things asian people go through like decades ago asian people started to be discriminated against with the vietnam war and even the japanese internment camps // and are we not gonna talk about how we're portrayed in the media?? there are like 4 different roles that asian people fill: geek, comedic foreign person, exotic, mysterious. can we get some more representation here???? it keeps asian people in a small box
and if you even think something other than something progressive you get hunted down like how many genders there are or if you think abortion is morally right
and nobody listens to men's issues its all about how much women are oppressed and how horrible men are. men who are raped (yes men can be raped) don't speak up about it because they know no one would care about it// they even acknowledge that some people believe men cant be raped because power struggles and whatever
mental health issues are still overlooked. take thirteen reasons why for example: its a show about how this girl killed herself because everything in her life went wrong and she records tapes about specific people who she blames for her death. the first season i guess was alright because the goal was "to prevent suicide by showing the effects on other people" or whatever bullshit. and now they're making a season 2???? for fucking what???? what else do yall want us to know?? the message that wasn't even there in the first place is now lost because they want to tell a good story.
suicide rape and abuse should not be fucking entertainment for the media
you don't get to make money off of the stories of millions of people who suffer with depression and don't speak up about it

viewing preferences!!!

"Do you prefer viewing films at a movie theater or at home, either by playing a DVD or by streaming/downloading from the Internet? How might your  viewing preferences connect to the way in which the film industry is evolving?"

It really depends on what I'm feeling, or what the movie is. If its an intimate or emotional movie, I'd prefer to watch it at home on my own TV. It just feels better that way. But if its something more satirical or action packed, I'd want to watch it at the movie theater. And if I'm at the movie theater, I'm going to be with a group of people or my sister. The experience becomes more shareable. Being alone for certain movies makes it more enjoyable. (ALSO, I TALK WAYYYY TO MUCH DURING MOVIES LMFAOOO LIKE EITHER ITS ME REACTING TO IT LIKE "OMFG WHAAAT"  OR ITS ME ASKING RHETORICAL QUESTIONS TO THE DISMAY OF WHOEVER IM WITH)

Also...sometimes a bitch is broke so I'll just open my laptop and type in "(INSERT MOVIE TITLE) watch online free full movie" and that'll be the end of that really because I am not about to spend $18 to sit with other people
OH AND ANOTHER THING I WAS WATCHING GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOLUME 2 IN A THEATER AND THERE WAS LITERALLY ME, A FEW OTHER PEOPLE, AND LIKE 4 STRANGERS SITTING NEXT TO US AND IF ANYTHING NOT EVEN REMOTELY FUNNY HAPPENED THAT STUPID MAYONNAISE BITCH WOULD START LAUGHING SO FUCKING LOUD LIKE UGH I SHOULD'VE LAUGHED INTO HER FACE AT THE SAME VOLUME TO SHOW HER WHAT IT WAS LIKE I WAS THE ONE LITERALLY SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO HER)

TV shows

i dont even watch tv #netflix

okay so I don't even watch TV anymore I watch netflix and youtube more because you know a bitch is on a budget
but on netflix i think my favorite show is probably a close bet between parks and recreation and stranger things
because stranger things is good (but lets be honest its good but its very hyped// but believe me i like it)
i like parks and recreation because my humor really matches up with the show
some of the jokes aren't even like real humor its more being unexpected and dumb
and the funniest thing to me that isn't even funny is when they look at the camera
one of my favorite running gag is them all hating jerry like he's so innocent and just wants to do his job but they make fun of him and bully him okay maybe on second thought they're mean to him
its all in good fun though
there isn't really an episode that stands out to me because there isn't exactly a linear plot
the episodes aren't really connected they're all their own separate stories and sometimes there's plots but not really
but my favorite kind of episodes is with andy/april, anne, ben, and leslie
oh and jerry

i love music part 3 of 3

  • How does your musical style taste differ from your family (parents/siblings) or friends? Discuss your reaction to this type of music and explain why you dislike it, but your family member (or friend) likes it.

I am literally the only person in my family who has my music taste. My sister likes Rap/R&B/Hip-Hop, while I am open to all things. I can't even count my parents because they just like the music from Laos. My sister blares her music from her car, while I like mines quiet in my headphones. We often class on what music we want to listen to, but sometimes we can appreciate why one person likes a certain kind of music. She's introduced me to artists like H.E.R, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Rihanna. And I've tried to introduce her to The 1975, Lorde, Neck Deep, Panic! At the Disco. I won't say that I don't like her music, because I do.

i love music part 2 of 3

I grew up not really finding interest in music. Like, age 7 or 8 I didn't see the appeal in finding music that you like. I guess I would say that my music taste growing up was just whatever was popular and playing on the radio. More recently, I listened to Pop, or what I like to call, Tumblr artists. Because they are the biggest artists that are talked about on there. Tumblr is a place for freaks and geeks who worship people. These artists have a distinctive look or sound that is often called weird, or "white." Melanie Martinez's baby aesthetic, Halsey's teenage/blue/strangely fashionable style. I would be ashamed to tell someone I liked them. Actually, I do like them still, but I have grown to find others more appealing in time. In reality, I can't define my music taste as one singular genre.

WOOOOOO I LOVE THIS PROMPT I LOVE MUSIC

My preferred style of music is probably R&B. But it was just a recent development. My favorite R&B artists are SZA, Jhene Aiko, Her. (I'm just now noticing that these are all female artists im so gay wtf) I used to just like Pop music. I feel like R&B is a genre that is very expansive, and can go from upbeat songs like Bad Blood by NAO; to slow, lamenting songs like Focus by H.E.R. I can't really say why it is appealing to me, it just is. Just sound waves that my brain just happens to like hearing. R&B songs have a vibe that I just like.

the controversy of to kill a mockingbird ♥

to kill a mockingbird is a great book 8th grade was a good time

so the majority of us have read to kill a mockingbird and/or watched the movie and its pretty good and i actually understood what was going on in the book for once lol
but then people are like um no "According to James LaRue, director of American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom, challenges to the book over the past century have usually cited the book’s strong language, discussion of sexuality and rape, and use of the n-word." like what did yall expect its like 1930?? and these things were indeed happening so stay mad you closed minded rednecks actually no its probably Margaret who thinks knowing about real events that make her uncomfortable make it okay for to limit her children and other kids you bitter bitch
