i love music part 3 of 3

  • How does your musical style taste differ from your family (parents/siblings) or friends? Discuss your reaction to this type of music and explain why you dislike it, but your family member (or friend) likes it.

I am literally the only person in my family who has my music taste. My sister likes Rap/R&B/Hip-Hop, while I am open to all things. I can't even count my parents because they just like the music from Laos. My sister blares her music from her car, while I like mines quiet in my headphones. We often class on what music we want to listen to, but sometimes we can appreciate why one person likes a certain kind of music. She's introduced me to artists like H.E.R, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Rihanna. And I've tried to introduce her to The 1975, Lorde, Neck Deep, Panic! At the Disco. I won't say that I don't like her music, because I do.

i love music part 2 of 3

I grew up not really finding interest in music. Like, age 7 or 8 I didn't see the appeal in finding music that you like. I guess I would say that my music taste growing up was just whatever was popular and playing on the radio. More recently, I listened to Pop, or what I like to call, Tumblr artists. Because they are the biggest artists that are talked about on there. Tumblr is a place for freaks and geeks who worship people. These artists have a distinctive look or sound that is often called weird, or "white." Melanie Martinez's baby aesthetic, Halsey's teenage/blue/strangely fashionable style. I would be ashamed to tell someone I liked them. Actually, I do like them still, but I have grown to find others more appealing in time. In reality, I can't define my music taste as one singular genre.

i love music part 1 of 3

WOOOOOO I LOVE THIS PROMPT I LOVE MUSIC

My preferred style of music is probably R&B. But it was just a recent development. My favorite R&B artists are SZA, Jhene Aiko, Her. (I'm just now noticing that these are all female artists im so gay wtf) I used to just like Pop music. I feel like R&B is a genre that is very expansive, and can go from upbeat songs like Bad Blood by NAO; to slow, lamenting songs like Focus by H.E.R. I can't really say why it is appealing to me, it just is. Just sound waves that my brain just happens to like hearing. R&B songs have a vibe that I just like.

the controversy of to kill a mockingbird ♥

to kill a mockingbird is a great book 8th grade was a good time

so the majority of us have read to kill a mockingbird and/or watched the movie and its pretty good and i actually understood what was going on in the book for once lol
but then people are like um no "According to James LaRue, director of American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom, challenges to the book over the past century have usually cited the book’s strong language, discussion of sexuality and rape, and use of the n-word." like what did yall expect its like 1930?? and these things were indeed happening so stay mad you closed minded rednecks actually no its probably Margaret who thinks knowing about real events that make her uncomfortable make it okay for to limit her children and other kids you bitter bitch

books ☺

hello everyone i am here
so even though i go to school for writing i havent actually gotten into a book since 6th grade and its currently 10th grade so that's a really bad gap

but i do occasionally get tired of gaming and going on my phone and i have tried to read things
so the most recent book ive read is looking for alaska by john green and its alright its like his first book about manic pixie dream girls because alaska and margot are literally the most unrealistic females in the history of books like
they're edgy and not like other girls and like old music and smoke cigarettes and are hot and they both leave the protagonist sad

but ill admit paper towns was pretty cool i aspire to live a highschool life as aesthetically pleasing as theirs
my favorite picture book was probably scooby doo or pokemon
my favorite genre is ummm realistic fiction i guess because i like fiction but i also like it to be somewhere that i can walk into in real life and actually wonder if it'll happen or not
favorite required reading was brighton beach memoirs
i liked anime at one point so pokemon the manga was my life
my favorite book to film adaptation is probably paper towns because lol i watched the movie first and then the book so

i dont really care if its electronic or paper books like if i have the paper book then great but if im too poor to buy the paper book then the free pdf online will do LMFAOO

anita sarkeesian - feminist frequency on damsels in distress

oh no i didn't want to get political on this blog

so today in class we watched this woman anita sarkeesian and her first episode in her series on the topic of women in video games
and she attempts to shit all over our beloved games like zelda and mario but those are the only ones that she is actually wrong about things
the male gamer and tomboy girl gamer side of the internet dont like her at all because she had no idea what she is talking about but i do agree with some of the things that she says
like her first point is about an unreleased game called dinosaur planet or something featuring krystal from starfox and shes hot but this is also beastiality #stopfurries2017 and her solo game was scrapped in order for some company to add her to starfox as the damsel in distress
before starfox she was this independant animal bad bitch with her staff and she did magic and talked to dinosaurs but then now shes (wait for it) A KRYSTAL INSIDE A CRYSTALLLLLLL HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA because she gets imprisoned in a crystal which removes her from the game for the majority of it except the tutorial
but then anita brings up princess peach
yeah that dumb big titty blond bimbo with her stockholm syndrome and abusive relationship
who she tries to say that peach is disgusting because she's a product of the patriarchy and straight male gamers but in reality not really like i understand the whole man-saves-woman-because-women-aren't-capable-of-saving-themselves trope is a thing but its a trope that is literally so embedded into the western culture that we're so familiar to it
and the thing about it appealing to straight cis males like okay bitch im gay as fuck and i love playing princess peach in smash brothers and mario kart shes the baddest bitch in the mario universe like daisy?? whose that.... birdo is a dyke and toadette is toad with a.....you know what im not gonna drag nintendo like that i love them

in conclusion i feel like she did have really valid points but the only reason no one likes her is because the people who play the games are too emotionally attached to the characters that they can't stand to see them be torn down by this bitch with white makeup sperm eyebrows and bad winged eyeliner

sorry not sorry

☠☠ VIDEO GAME VIOLENCE ☠☠

video games do not cause violence case closed

hello

  • Write about a video game you played that shocked you with its violence, racism/cultural insensitivity, or misogyny. Identify the game and what bothered you about the experience. If you have never played a video game like this, you might write about a music video, song, or T.V. show that fits the bill.
  • Consider why such games or media are made. How do these images or representations affect you personally? How might they affect your family or loved ones?
  • Or is all of this just an excuse for deeper social problems in our society? Why or why not? How?

okay so i dont really play violent games in general because that's not really my taste
like my favorite game genre is maybe rpg or ones that involve story telling??? the only first person shooter that i play is overwatch and that's it i hate call of duty and counter strike but i do like halo because i have good memories playing that game with my family members on sunny cold saturday mornings oh my god im tearing up

but the most violent and graphic game ive seen/played is probably corpse party (nice title right lol)
it's a visual novel and the art style is anime so it's pretty weird but the actual gameplay is pixels like earthbound or whatever

and SPOILER WARNING!! the game revolves students who are about to leave elementary school or middle school and they are really good friends and after they graduate whatever grade they want to remain friends forever because when you're in school you want to do that of course its exciting and fun and makes a good story for your grandkids but yeah they do some dumb shit like oh i dont know making a paper doll that would either grant them friendship forever or subject them to eternal suffering and torment so yeah they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed but yeah it turns out that the paper doll doesn't work and they end up in the haunted school beneath their school and they start dying because all of the monsters and spirits there are wraiths aka angry ghosts and they kill the kids because thats what antagonists do

but really the game is really gorey with guts and blood and severed heads and intestines and ripping skulls apart like literally they cut some girls tongue out and one of their eyes and one boy's head gets it's top portion ripped off so its just his mouth and throat ughhghghg

i guess the game is appealing to people who like games about friendship and whatever like really besides all the killing and blood when i watched the final playthrough from this youtuber it was an ending that tied everything up but it was really sad because they had the choice of going back to the real world but if they did then the people who died in the haunted school would forever remain there and every memory that anyone ever had of said deceased person would be gone like they are wiped from existence but the kids who came back to the school were forever scarred and i guess their teacher is there too and she does stuff but a book shelf crushes her so she's benched for a large majority of the game before they rescue her

this game affects me because ew gore makes me sick

japanese games aren't really made for political or social reasons like they're all about inspiring people and having friendships and an excuse to draw but lets not sip that tea today :)

Thursday, October 26, 2017

  • Write about your favorite game (this could be a board game, a sport, or a digital/electronic video game, etc.)
    • What is it? What's the objective/goal of the game? How do you play? Etc.
    • What do you like about the game?
    • What have you learned about yourself, others, or your world from playing the game? What benefit is there to playing? Etc.

im a gamer grill XDDDD :3

okay so games i like overwatch its a video game about shooting and heroes coming back together after a long time

and there's characters that you can play like strong people and fast people and scary people and healing people

there's modes where the objective changes like one of them is like you're on one of the various maps and there's an attacking team and defending team // and the game gives you a car and your team has to bring the car to checkpoints and eventually the end point and if you do that you win but the car only moves if your team is on it and if enemies stand near the car it wont move so you have to kill them so you can move it

the attacking team is moving the cart and the defending team is trying to stop the attackers from moving the cart into the end zone

and another mode is control where there's a designated point and if your team stands on it you start to claim it like after 10 seconds of standing on it with just your team you capture it and your score starts to go up from 0 to 100

but if an enemy stands on the point while your team is on it still they start to contest it and if they get your team off of it then they start to capture it and the first people to 100 is the winner

i like the game because its fun and it's always different whenever you play a round like its always fresh and i also like the characters they're cool

i learned that i am decent at video games

blogging abt 3

2. On your blog write a post about your coming-out story about being a geek or a nerd; OR classify the different kinds of nerds and geeks that exist. Make sure you describe each type.

"Mom...Dad, I'm..... a nerd."
"omg what"
"do u still love me"
"omg no get out u fag"

no i havent gotten kicked out yet lmao im still g@y asf though lmao

uh in 6th grade i watched anime (ew i know right) and i was the absolute most cringiest person like i used to do the naruto alot bc ninjas and magic and emo sasuke

okay and there is a difference between NERDS and GEEKS

nerds are intelligent
geeks are intelligent in a subject that is not educational

yes there is sub catergories

school nerds are really smart and they really like doing homework and everything that they do involves doing something smart like can u chill for 2 seconds please and thank you

gross geeks aren't smart lmao they're the ones who go to comic con and cosplay and play dungeons and dragons and magic: the gathering

computer geeks proficient in things that involve electronics

cool nerds are geeks (mostly on the internet) that dress cool and they look cool and 8/10 they're hot because these nerdy fucks are always turning out hot wtf and they are the best kind of nerd/geek because their personality is already good and established but then they're body and face develops too???? HAH, i think yes

blogging abt geeks 2

1b. What was your first encounter with the internet like? What are some things you remember using the internet for then? Describe your relationship with the Internet compared to other forms of mass media: radio, television, film, books, etc.

I mean when we first got our computer there wasn't alot for like 7 year olds to do so i mostly just played browser games on y8 (thats also a throwback lmao) and i had a facebook (not at age 7 i got one in 6th grade they should not give 6th graders facebooks i cringe at what i have written on there) and i talked to my two friends that i had at school it was great but then we left that school and i dont talk to either of them anymore lmfao but one of them is hot now so thats great i want to love him

blogging abt geeks

1a. Describe your first experiences with computers and the internet. A. What was your first computer? What did you use it for? How did you react to it? Describe your memory to the best of your ability.

so my first experience with computers i think my dad got a computer for the family quote unquote but it was just me and my sister who used it to play browser games like poptropica (wow what a throwback do yall remember that HAh me neither)

i guess she used the computer more than me so her eyes are like bad and she wears glasses and contacts and she told me a story about how before she corrected her vision with nerd goggles she would sit there in her 6th grade class and she was blind asab so she couldn't see the board LMFAOOO IM CRYING

how did i react??? i guess i liked it alot bc i spent alot of time on it and we had fun but my sister had the comfy chair so i had to stand next to her and my legs would hurt and she didn't care i still love her though #shoutouttosis2017 *insert 100 emoji*

my attempt at writing like john green

At times I thought that the universe would play with my life for no clear reason, and the stars would die and explode with laughter at my dismay. The beautiful man named Luis sat down at the table across from me, dropping a plastic container of food onto the surface loudly. If I hadn’t been so deep in thought, I would’ve jumped at the sound. He raised his arms questioningly, like he was waiting for something witty to happen.
“Nothing?” He laughed while screeching a chair across the room.
“Oh sorry, I’m just uh,” I audibly sighed. “Thinking about some stuff.”

Luis nodded with a mouth full of food. The smells of ethnic food drew my attention. “Yeah, we’ve gotta do that every now and then.” I snapped out of my daze to look over at what he was doing. He was now paying no attention to me, as if I had only existed to him for a second. So wrapped up in the things that were happening on his phone. I didn’t mind it, since it’s not like someone like him would do anything otherwise. I sat there in admiring him in a neutral state. Observing the little things that he did when he thought no one was watching. The occasional eye twitch when you try to keep still and focus, the little smirk when something amusing scrolls by, the tapping of the leg when your mind was absent and the body was free to do what it wanted. I appreciated all of it, and he didn’t even know.

technology when i was little

Think about the media technologies in your life when you were growing up. How did you watch TV shows, listen to music, or communicate with friends? How have those technologies changed since you were very young?

So I was born in 2002 so therefore I am an angsty teen

The technology that we have today isn't really that advanced from childhood, I guess the closest thing that we have to advancement in our tech is smartphones. Very basic thing to say. The TV that I watched was always on this big box with a huge screen. Movies were pretty much in the same manner or at the theater. Looking back, I wasn't very much of a music fan. It's just so crazy to me now since at the moment, I'm someone who's music is very important to me. My headphones have to be on me always. I didn't start having actual friends that I wanted to talk to outside of school until like 5th grade, and I did that on Facebook. You know, the most basic form. It was either facebook or calling on the phone.

im back

hi did you miss me

Q. Pick an example media product that you like or find helpful to your own life (it probably should be something you already consume). Explain what it is and why you find the product useful or helpful. Give some examples as to how the product has use (in other words: what good is the product to your own life or experience--why do you like it? etc.)

A. so im gonna talk about a TV show i like and its called Parks and Recreation

most of the people that i've watched this with dont like it bc they think its corny and not funny

i dont know if this is a fact or not but the show format is like almost exact to The Office (maybe because the directors are the same idk??) The thing i really like about both of those shows is this really weird thing that they do when a joke is told or something happens thats really awkward they zoom into the actor's face and that makes me laugh really hard for some reason

something thats harmful to the public is buzzfeed bc its very biased and propaganda based / like its all feminist and leftist and they all hate men for some reason like why some of the men hate men liike wat

♥♥my favorite quotes from the elegance of the hedgehog♥♥

by Muriel, Barbery.

“People aim for the stars, and they end up like goldfish in a bowl. I wonder if it wouldn't be simpler just to teach children right from the start that life is absurd.”

“If you have but one friend, make sure you choose her well.”

“I have finally concluded, maybe that's what life is about: there's a lot of despair, but also the odd moment of beauty, where time is no longer the same. It's as if those strains of music created a sort of interlude in time, something suspended, an elsewhere that had come to us, an always within never. Yes, that's it, an always within never.”

“Do you know that it is in your company that I have had my finest thoughts?”

“The real ordeal is not leaving those you love but learning to live without those who don't love you.”

“Beautiful things should belong to beautiful souls.”

Life has meaning and we grown-ups know what it is is the universal lie that everyone is supposed to believe. Once you become an adult and you realize that's not true, it's too late.”

 (MY ABSOLUTE 1000% FAVORITE) :
“They didn't recognize me," I repeat.
He stops in turn, my hand still on his arm.
"It is because they have never seen you," he says. "I would recognize you anywhere.”

“When someone that you love dies..it's like fireworks suddenly burning out in the sky and everything going black.”

“We think we can make honey without sharing in the fate of bees, but we are in truth nothing but poor bees, destined to accomplish our task and then die.”

“There is always the easy way out, although I am loath to use it. I have no children, I do not watch television and I do not believe in God- all paths taken by mortals to make their lives easier. Children help us to defer the painful task of confronting ourselves, and grandchildren take over from them. Television distracts us from the onerous necessity of finding projects to construct in the vacuity of our frivolous lives; by beguiling our eyes, television releases our mind from the great work of making meaning. Finally, God appeases our animal fears and the unbearable prospect that someday all our pleasures will cease. Thus, as I have neither future nor progeny nor pixels to deaden the cosmic awareness of absurdity, and in the certainty of the end and the anticipation of the void, I believe I can affirm that I have not chosen the easy path.”

mystery reflection

"write a reflection on how the writing of your mystery draft went"

me: *sweats nervously*

6/7/17

okay although its not complete i exactly what i want to happen or whatever so please dont judge me
i don't think that im gonna be that good at writing mystery things (mostly ones that involve murder or dying) because i don't like killing off my characters i love them too much

i know i need people to die in mines but one of them is rlly hot and hispanic so idk what im gonna do with that

maybe he'll just be in a coma or something and they cant help him

so yeah ill see how much i can bullshit this in time for the end of the year

mystery is also hard to write because the best ones have sort of complex deaths and murders and i cant do things that make sense like ill have a dinosaur eat someone or something

i like the Danganronpa series bc its a mystery thing (its anime but im not a weeb i swear) and the murderers are highschool students but manage to pull off the smartest shit ever like some girl tied this boy up and left a weapon or something to drop on him when the rest of the kids tried to come in and then when he died they tried to push open the door but she also left a bunch of boxes in a domino formation so they would all topple each other and tip over a lighter and set the entire place on fire erasing all of the evidence and just leave a charred body what a mastermind

♥♥mystery♥♥

*dramatic music* *thunder claps* *everyone gasps* "que?"

(another post about a genre that we're starting)

Mystery, the genre that typically includes a professional or other protagonist that has to solve various mysteries and problems in order to uncover a greater scheme. This can be murder, illegal acts that don't involve murder, or maybe some other petty thing that the characters fight over. It's great.

My thoughts??

As a "reader" (quotation marks since I haven't even really read a book in months) I'm not that much of a fan of mystery. Well, its not really because I don't like having nostalgia about Scooby-Doo or anything; I just haven't come across any actual mystery books. Probably because I'm not looking hard enough though. The faintest one that I can remember is The Westing Game and I can't even recall anything that happened in the book. Hell, I only remembered the title and had to look it up to confirm that it was a mystery novel. Anyways, sure. I'm up for whatever Craddock has in store for me in like 2 weeks.

(Following the pattern of this whole year, I'm pretty sure we're going to be writing ~our own~ mystery novels which I'm probably going to have to scramble to finish because I don't get any inspiration when I'm in that hard ass uncomfortable seat and just waiting for the period to be over or we move onto something else; adding onto the 3 other assignments that I have not completed but hey life sucks)

mr craddock's blog also asks for thoughts on tropes of the genre but the gag is that idk any tropes bc i only know 1 mystery novel in existence and i can only think of the title so yeah thats how its going for me right now

^ the only tropes i can think of come from scooby doo mystery incorporated so: is the whole bad guy in a costume trope a valid trope or

thats all i know im sorry

♥fantasy pt.2♥

*a bird lands on jack's shoulder*
*jack does something*
lily: ur so clever jAck

guess what i have not finished my fantasy story yet lmao but are we even surprised though i finish all my shit like 3 years after they're assigned so wooooo lets see how i do // i also wrote this like two weeks after it was assigned so i dont even know if this is what i'm correctly supposed to do or not but lets see how this turns out or if i even get any points for this

anyways

Legend (1985) by Ridley Scott, an early fantasy movie consisting of a troll with a uncomfortably well edited voice, a jungle boy that is familiar to Tarzan, a horny fairy, and a princess who makes the worst decisions despite the obvious consequences. Yes, an angsty introduction indeed. Since its a fantasy movie and one of the earlier ones, it might be riddled with cliches and/or strange occurrences in the story.  That might not be all that bad though, following the recipe is never an error in itself. The beginning doesn't give us much context to why Jack The Jungle Boy is in the jungle in the first place, but it was probably done to just move on with the story. It continues with the two being happy, then suddenly Jack wants to show his little girlfriend the most sacred of all creatures in the forest, the Unicorn. To sum it up, Lilli doesn't listen to Jack and ends up touching the unicorn, a band of evil trolls (one of them being mentioned in the introduction) at the same time comes and shoots a poison dart at the mare. This "indirectly" scares the unicorn away and making Jack think that Lilli touching the horse was what caused the eternal winter. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the death of one of the unicorns resulted in the loss of magic and purity in the forest. Lilli runs away, Jack then needs to embark on a journey to clean up the mess stirred on by Lilli with several other fantasy creatures such as the fairy, more goblins and dwarves, and an elf. A classic fantasy movie.

♥♥the martian chronicles♥♥

The Martian Chronicles, the riveting science fiction novel by Ray Bradbury. This author is famous for his vivid storytelling that he uses to develop the experiences of his characters and plot. The novel follows many fragmented short stories that stretch across many years; telling of telepathy, space exploration, bee guns, and most importantly, martians.

The novel is overall pretty great. But the flaws include the inconsistent story line and lack of variety for resolution. There's like 16 short stories, one about this alien woman and her asshole husband who has a gun that shoots bees and abuses her. And then it skips to colonizers from Earth in their flying tin can who get thrown into an insane asylum and the whole crew is killed like out of nowhere, what the hell.

Adding to that, most of the conflict is resolved through violence. Colonizers? Shoot em' with the bee gun. Let's also not try to reason with beings that we don't know. Literally everything in this book ends with something violent and explosive. There's this alien who can shape shift and it tries to turn into everyone, and then he bursts into dusts. There's no plan C, no E on this scan tron.

The writing style I'll say is not bad. I can imagine the desolate planet of Mars and the struggles that the many life forms that have colonized and would like to colonize the planet have been through.

In conclusion, I am bitter.

♥♥fantasy♥♥

i was just attacked for my opinion of harry potter

Fantasy, the age old genre of magic and the supernatural forces. This tells stories of epic adventures with extravagant creatures and characters. This is a favorite of many and will probably never get old since there are still many elements to be accurately and deeply explored.

I am a fan of stories like Percy Jackson (ok i was obsessed with this shit like i wrote fan fiction about this story omg like the worst kind of thing that anyone can write) I have come to reform myself into a more cultured person that likes more than the whole elves and trolls and sword stuff. Fantasy is a beloved genre since it lets you escape your more boring life and escape into this grand saga. Gods and goddesses, undines and wood nymphs, centaurs and unicorns; all are things that I love.

I know that I just said how much of a fan that I was of this stuff, but in reality, I don't really lean towards fantasy things in today's media. Sure, the occasional good fantasy movie comes out. The Huntsman: Winter's War is the most recent one that I can think of. And yes, that movie came out last year. That's how long its been since I've watched a decent fantasy movie.

Games on the other hand; that's a different story. League of Legends (I don't even play that anymore but it was worth putting on the list) Overwatch (More sci-fi than fantasy, but there are still elements of fantasy mixed into there. Such as necromancy, sentient robots, ect.) and Smite (This is also a game that I don't play anymore, but still is downloaded onto my laptop. It has it's moments and mechanical fun, along with it's fantasy element of gods, goddesses, and mythical creatures arriving on a virtual battlefield to duke it out with their many arrays of abilities that allude to specific points and traits that appeared in their mythology.)

♥♥mrs.frisby and the rats of nimh♥♥

rats: the musical

as a disclaimer i really didnt want this book about rodents // i wanted the lion the witch and the wardrobe like its cool and i kind of sort of already know what thats about and i already like the story // this group of people pushed past me so they could snatch the book and my edges along with it //

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, the "fantasy" novel about a ~rat~ mother's struggle to save her sick son. Because of course we want to read about single mother rodent struggles!!

The book isn't really in the realm for fantasy, more general or science fiction. Genetically modified rats and their whole organization trying to experiment with them?? I would expect this book to be labeled along with the likes of Divergent. Okay, not even that since this was made in like The Stone Age, maybe more Charlotte's Web section or something.

The flashbacks make it confusing to keep up with where the story is, are we in the lab or what????

♥the martian chronicles 3/21♥

it is i, the frenchiest fry

Setting is one of the foundations of a good story, it can be a regular school or the deepest pit of hell, anything will go if you can develop it enough and intrigue a reader. In The Martian Chronicles, the story takes place in a future where Earth is desolated and mankind is forced to flee to other planets. In this case, the red planet named after the Roman god of war, Mars.

The example that I will be using (not because i'm behind hahaha) is from one of the very first stories that is featured, "Ylla." I'm not keen on the pronunciation of this word; Illa? Yeela? Ailla? This story/chapter follows an alien woman named Ylla and her husband. Ylla is having visions of shining lights of a spaceship that melts away snow and ice. Her husband thinks that the idea of travelers from "The Third Planet" is absurd and disregards her. On another night, Ylla dreams a similar dream where Nathaniel York comes down from the ship and is infatuated with her, offering to whisk her away. Yll, her husband, seems to be jealous of his wife's interest in this strange traveler and plans to thwart them, even though Ylla repeated time after time that it was merely a dream. Later that day, a ray of light comes down from the sky and Yll decides to go hunting, telling Ylla to stay in the house because a doctor is coming to see her about her visions. 2 shots ring out, it is suggested that they were from Yll and were used to eliminate Nathaniel York and his companion.

"The flame birds waited, like a bed of coals, glowing on the cool smooth sands. The whit canopy ballooned on the night wind, flapping softly, tied by a thousand green ribbons to the birds. Ylla laid herself back in the canopy and, at a word from her husband, the bired leaped, burning, toward the dark sky. The ribbons tautened, the canopy lifted. The sand slid whining under; the blue hills drifted by, leaving their home behind, the raining pillars, the caged flowers, the singing books, the whispering floor creeks. She did not look at her husband. She heard him crying out to the birds as they rose higher, like ten thousand hot sparkles, so many red-yellow fireworks in the heavens, tugging the canopy like a flower petal, burning through the wind."

The scene follows a vivid description of a canopy across a sky led by Yll's command and glowing birds. It is developed by showing that life on Mars is from from our own. The setting is important in this book because Mars is so specific and unique. When you think The Red Planet you think heat and sun, the bird things that Yll commands are fiery and fly into the air to raise the canopy.

♥♥the martian chronicles featuring ray bradbury♥♥

○ fkn aliens bro○

(a response to https://tylermillerwrites.com/2016/09/14/how-ray-bradburys-the-martian-chronicles-changed-science-fiction-and-literature/)

The Martian Chronicles is great. It's science fiction, a Ray Bradbury novel, a saga of exploring the cosmos, and most importantly, a story all about death. Lots of it in fact. The article above praises Bradbury for his unique take on the genre with a focus that isn't centered on quantum physics and wormholes, but more on the fall of a species and their struggles. It gave the reader insight on Brabury's process while writing the novel and breaking away from the status quo of science fiction. The book is interesting in it's concept. Humans "invade" Mars and eventually kill off the aliens inhabiting the planet. It seems ironic to me in a way. Most media involving martians involves the extraterrestrials coming to Earth and taking the planet by storm, a role reversal. The article also makes the reader think about what The Martian Chronicles is really about, whether it's simply a fantasy or a metaphor about human history or future. The Earthlings coming to Mars and colonizing it is reminiscent (also stated by the article) of European exploration for the New World. It isn't very much of a stretch anyways. I mean, colonizing? Infecting a group with all sorts of illnesses? Wanting to take land from someone else? Hmm.

♥♥Dandelion Wine♥♥

dandelion wine is gr8

Dandelion Wine is a novel written by Ray Bradbury, an author known for many works in fiction. This particular novel is set in Green Town, Illinois, 1928. It follows a sort of "alter ego" based on Ray Bradbury himself, Douglas Spaulding. Douglas sees the world with an optimistic and naive outlook on the world. Summers for children is usually just sweating, air conditioned rooms, video games, and sticky hands from melting ice cream. Ray Bradbury truly captures being a simple kid again in the summer of 1928 through evocative language and vivid story telling.

Dandelion Wine's stronger traits include its language, imagery. Ray Bradbury is a very unique writer in terms of being able to do these things and format it into a story. Dandelion Wine also amazingly includes an interesting cast of characters to enjoy, from a lurking and menacing murderer, to a seemingly enchanted woman. Another thing that can be enjoyed is the book's philosophy on life and death and being a human. Someone in the beginning of the book, Douglas comes to an epiphany that he is really here, living on Earth. Heart beating, lungs expanding and contracting, lying in the flowing grass.

Like anything in this world, Dandelion Wine has its flaws. They include; lack of strong plot line, some one dimensional characters, and a story that becomes a little confusing at times. The book jumps from character to character, scene to scene in a matter of pages. It becomes difficult to truly commit yourself to be invested in it.

Remember that this is simply opinion and can be trivialized by others. Maybe this is kind of biased because this book was written in like, 1950, and I'm a teen who just needs action all the time. It also isn't really something I would pick up at the library, not like the 50 Young Adult books in one aisle that are pretty much follow the same archetypes and story.

writing is so hard pls

i honestly cannot wait for spring break so i can sleep

literally this whole break i've absolutely destroyed my sleep schedule (not like i had one before) and now im basically nocturnal

speculative fiction - title: ???

So, in my lovely Creative Writing class, we are focusing on speculative fiction. Fiction based on realities different than ours, speculative. One of the prompts that Ms.Gamzon gave us was "What if you had 24 hours to live?"

I was intrigued, I was shook. I was always so worried and fascinated with the whole concept of death that I was excited to write about this. 24 hours seemed too short to fit a whole short story in (8 pages or so??/) so I'm feeling about making it during an entire week, a longer time period for plot and development.

Oh, the idea?

I really like books about vanilla young love and just teenage experiences, so I thought about this average boy who lives a normal life but is a Grandfather. These are beings who can live hundreds of years longer than the average human. He's so used to his boring everyday life that when he falls for this girl who is not a Grandfather (mother??? um) that time seems so limited with her. He eventually realizes that he can't be with her forever. There's still some kinks to work out since I started this like a week ago so stay tuned

ok bye

♥♥ the top ten rules of writing ♥♥

If you didn't know, i am a creative writing major at my school. I'm taught lessons about grammar and writing in the real world. Although these courses are essential in understanding the fundamentals of becoming an artist of literature, there are more subtle rules given to us by published and successful writers.

Two of the most basic things that new writers must understand is, "Never Use a Long Word When a Short One Will Do." and "Read A Lot." These are important because they are so basic. Starting out, some may think that big words means that they are smarter, whether or not they truly understand the meaning of it. You'll want to use extravagant instead of grand, unfathomable instead of unbelievable. You must understand your audience because these words may just add unnecessary flare and confuse your readers.

Reading is also needed when you're a writer. Reading your work after a few pages of writing can save yourself from errors and punctuation errors. Reading doesn't just apply to your own work, reading other author's writing can be beneficial since it might give you examples to implement into your own writing. Examples as in sentence structure or topics, not the full blown story in another way of saying it. Plagiarism is bad, kids.

There was like 8 other ones that were in the list that were given out by writers but I feel like these 2 are required before going on.

Now, let's talk about my favorite subject, Me. Thank you, thank you. I might sound like a hypocrite for talking about other people reading and how important it is, yet I haven't voluntarily read a book in about 3 years. It's pretty much my fault, but it's also the non diverse stories in the young adult category. It's all just, pretty and skinny white girl has powers and she's clumsy. She get's caught in a love triangle and has to save the world in some way. (Looking at you, The Fifth Wave.) I feel like one of the best authors writing for a younger audience is John Green. Author of The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns, I actually enjoyed both the movie and the book. These narratives offer a new perspective to life; a cancer patient, a loser waiting for a miracle. Maybe the side characters might be a little one dimensional (The horny boy from Paper Towns) but overall, the stories are good. This section kind of went off track, but hey, I need to practice more on reading books.

On the outside, I might seem like this fruity little asian boy who likes making memes and jokes, but I actually do have a passion for writing. There's just something captivating about text that can't be put into words. (maybe its the other way around idk) So yeah, read more, humble yourself.

♥♥ my very first entry for this damn blog ♥♥

The crowd marched on in grim silence. The gigantic gate was newly installed just for us. At a glance, you would think that we were nothing. Small eyed people, smart, like math. You would have no idea that we were parading to our own graves. I gripped the cloth handle of my bag. We were told we were being brought to this camp on an extremely short notice, I brought a couple shoes, a book of blank paper, a compact of charcoal and pencils, and a small bag filled with money I earned over the summer. The summer seemed so free. Just melting ice cream and wind brushing through your hair. Now our summer was gone.

My mother was not the cookie cutter model that Hollywood had brought out for our race; the nerd, the store owner, the bullied. Our family told stories of her accomplishments like secrets rushing around a schoolyard. She looked straight on with tired eyes, wrinkles bloomed from her eyes like a bouquet of smiles and her hair fell down her shoulders like a waterfall. Her skin was a blanket of fresh snow. I didn't hear her laugh that much these days anymore, the sudden news of our imprisonment had turned all of us for the worse.

Following shortly behind me was my sister, Lelani. My mother thought that the name would be nice like a flower. Lelani's smooth hair was like my mother's and she had the eyes of an owl. I could tell she was tired of walking and just wanted to go home. That was one thing that I could not bring our family. For this was our new home, this dismal place made of fresh concrete and slanted walls built in a mere month. I wasn't a stranger to such racism.

They lined us up by age and gender, they measured our bodies and tested us for sickness of other imperfections. This woman shined a light into my eye and smiled, meet me in the infirmary for some fun later she said. I wasn't very interested, she was probably just bored and wanted to play with fresh blood, and I also didn't play that team. This whole process was torture. I kept trying to remind myself of the temporary nature of this situation, but in reality; we weren't going anywhere.

A few hours later, I finally met up with my sister and my mother. They assigned us a small cabin near the water supply in a nice patch of dying sunlight. Lelani sat quietly on the very uncomfortable bed with her package of candy that she had brought from home. It was to be expected though, children are so attached to their play things no matter how strange the object was.

My mother sat on the uneven counter and sighed, throwing her hair behind her shoulders and rubbing her eyes. I didn't know what would become of us, this new home of ours. This wasn't exactly the best home for any human being, I felt like this camp was a menagerie. I was the first to speak.

"This isn't so bad, is it?" I tried to lighten the mood. Lelani was about 5 and she could understand how to tell someone that she didn't want them talking. "This is horrible." My mother started. "Why are we being treated like this?" I put my hand on her shoulder and sighed. "I think it's just for a little while. They just kinda don't trust us because of our race." I didn't know what I was saying from that moment on.
